They look good, what did you charge. Try spray out cards for masking they are a lot easier and quicker, failing that if you have broken the bead cling film also does the job quickly. If you really want to use masking tape and paper try spraying the tyre with a  an aerosol adhesive first, even if the tyres have just been slicked the glue will stick and that tape also, both will come off easy with the paper when finished.

Nice one, really pleased your busy. It's the corroded alloys I hate. (note to self, do not attempt corroded alloys as they take too much time and you can never get them perfect).

£100, I hope that is for a maximum of 2, even at that you are totally underselling. If you are charging £100 for 4 you will not make many friends on here I expect. I have not done alloys for about 6 years properly and even then they were always £50 each, and definitely nothing as bad as those.

They may tell you that, but they may be telling porkies. If there is someone doing alloys for that price, then there is not hope for anyone in a few years time. The PROPER dealers around here are happy to pay £50+ for a good job ( still not enough to make me want to do them, bloody hard work). I know of 2 of my customers paying the wheel man £60 per wheel, and to be fair he is excellent.

That's why I don't like doing wheels for trade.  I'd struggle to make a profit at that price.  I'd rather do 4 retail wheels at around £50 each.

The Trade will pay £50, reluctantly. Those guys make money out of cars by being Smart, which is fine but don't let them take advantage...........

You just got to be a better salesman than the salesman. I would have thought most of us negotiate prices all the time, I know I do. But you have to have the knowledge of how much it costs you to do the work, and a lot of guys I talk to have no idea, just look at how many guys have good turnovers, think they are busy and have no money.

I always say that most SR guys actually earn about 50% nett of what they invoice, now this is a very rough guide. I have been out of the loop for a while but I think it must cost about £300 per week to have a decent SR van on the road before you start taking wages, unless of course you are part of a franchise and then it can be a lot more, please correct me if I am wrong.

That being the case a set of alloys at that price would earn £40 less if part of a franchise, not bad if you can do all 4 in less than 1 hour, any longer and it is crap.

You cant have it in both hands, but those Dealers want it that way. They have no qualms about charging labour out at £50 plus per hour, charge for parts as well and wanting a mark up on them too! If you want to be successful in the Smart business you need to toughen up and stand your ground otherwise you'll be trampled on.
