Use the lightest silver you have to cover the repair and apply Lechler Sparkling Glass over the top to get the shadow chrome effect

Hi netenergy
My son is asking me to repair his alloys, which i think are shadow chrome ( look black from a distance)
I  do dent repairs but I do small paint jobs on my own cars.
Is lechler sparkling glass easy to get hold of in small quantities .
I have done a set of quite badly curbed Clio alloys which we sold on eBay no problem but I sanded some damage out then used a small amount of u pol
I think if I try my sons zetec s alloys I would get some of the q bond you lads talk about.
Cheers

Hi Gary
Any Lechler distributor should stock it. Comes in 1lt pack, expect to pay high £90's.
It's very thin so make sure its well shaken and don't add thinners. Use thin coats and allow to 'flash off' between. Dry before clearcoating.

Hi all when I do shadow chrome on the range rovers and land rover I use a standard black base after the repair then I use a solvent chrome paint I spend no more than 40 quid for half a litre 5 tenths no need to thin and just apply in dust coats till desired effect is reached be careful with the silver/chrome or it will just look silver. Try bradleys smart range it does a quality job for me any quries just email me dude hope I helped never turn em down u can charge a little extra lol ;)

Well i have bit the bullet and i am doing a big set of wheels in the spectra flair rainbow chrome effect .I have from experience and always been told that there is say 30% drop off in the brightness of the chrome effect when lacquered .Has anyone found a lacquer that reduces this drop off .

Well the wheels are now sitting ready for the rainbow chrome .I will do this on monday leave over night and lacquer on tuesday and let you know .I will be using a low solvent lac as directed and let you know and if im feeling clever i will post some pics .I must say this set of wheels have been the most time consuming i have ever done due to the fact they were so badly pitted  under the oe finish .
