Went out the other day and had two occasions to use the ssr kit because it justified it didnt want to mess around using the aqua kit and well the results were amazing the scratch just simply blended back into the original paint work customer was very happy with the result and thought originally it would have to be resprayed i did point out it would only be a cosmetic repair but as i said he was very happy with the result ( guys the scratch still can be seen at about 1 foot away but if you didnt know were it was originally you wouldnt spot it )

Andy , the ssr kit does seem expensive.
Do you think it is good enough to be used on a regular basis to be cost effective?

Hi Andy, That is a very kind offer of yours.
I would like to see first hand what ssr can do, I have a practice bonnet like the one in the video with lots of light  to heavy scratching on it which would be a good test .
Only problem I am really only available on Sundays at the moment  >:(
Would be nice to also have a brew and a chat ,It would be fantastic if you could come up or If you prefer I could put the bonnet in my car and come to you.
Cheers Gary

Hi mike,

i use the ssr kit and the results i get vary from colour to colour and the various sizes of scratches but i have seen screenman lately and the opinion is that this kit although has it`s market within the smart repair industry is really suited to the trade side of the market and not really for retail as the finish apparantley does`nt last and i do know this is true as i have done family cars and after about 6 months the damage were i used the ssr to repair it is starting to show again ? so any input would be appreciated. We really have to wait for more feed back as more techs join up to the forum?

Regards,
Andy..  :)

Interesting what you have to say, and Graham is a 'wise olde awl'. I think it's the polish drying out within the 'deeper' scratch, much the same as G3 might. Agreed with mixed bag of results on 'deeper scratches', amazing at times and disappointing on others (a bit like life really). My solution would be paint or use a 6' Trizac and warm soapy water, the Trizac disc spreads the load over a larger area. Draw a white line on the scratch and this way you can watch it been cut out. Polish back up and get a perfect result every time. I tend to use the ssr for touch ups only as painting is the more profitable option for myself.

Hi mike,

Thats interesting i would always worry about taking to much laquer off which would do more harm than good but i suppose you would get to know when enough is enough and yes ive just hooked up and met graham and getting usefull tips from him but i did want to get abit more involved with the scratch side of things as im being asked to repair scratches but the results just using the ssr isnt good enough for heavier scratches i would be interested to see how you deal with scratches and the process you carry out and the results ? Are you still using the same products that came with the ssr kit or have you found alternative products ?

Firstly the SSR products are some of the finest available so see no need to 'swap' as I have no product quality issues. SSR is designed for lighter scratches and works very well, its the deeper variants your interested in and where SSR is less effective. There was a 'deep fill' solution available through SSR, however company feed back has been slow at best, thus restricting growth, exposure and confidence. I'm a painter and therefore have the choice to SSR a scratch for £20 or paint it for £200, I'd liken this to chip repair in glass. Repairing the chip has a lower cost than replacement . The two options conflict due to profit margins and the technician will/might be tempted to advice on best solution for himself.......
Conclusion of SSR from a painters perspective
SSR is a fantastic product, which can substantially improve a vehicles appearance, however further investment is required and all returns will be at reduced rates compared to traditional repair methods, thus conflicting with sound business accruement. Morally SSR should be always be offered to the customer first in an ideal world

Pressure washers can cause damage to anything in the wrong hands.

Define normal, if there is such a thing. Application, Weather, Temperature, Time, Detergent, Pressure when washing will all have contributory factors. I'd like to say YES, but cannot account for environmental factors and a common sense approach should be recommended. Much the same as all Smart Repairs being pressure washed in my opinion.
